It was great reading your wonderful story again - LOVE the perfect selection for saying Good Bye to Xander.

Great chapter but in the super misery kinda of way - like your changes to events in the series.

Poor Joyce - it's hard to understand how she kept thinking that Buffy could have a normal life when she so clearly was not a normal young woman.

great chapter and use of events from the series. Enjoying your story very much.

I love your story and I especially love the ending of chapter 21 and the epilogue. It really shows the difference between the Buffy who's lost her mother to your Buffy. Your Buffy accepted Spike with his demon (actually seeing life's grey area) the other one still saw things as black and white and couldn't accept Spike without the soul.

Loved it. Really well written.

Wow, I think that was the best fan fiction story I've ever read. It really fixed parts of season 6-7 that I think we all thought needed fixing. I loved the way you changed POV throughout the chapters (and did it incredibly I might add), it made me gain insight into the characters other than spike and buffy.I really feel like you perfected everything and I wish I could pretend this is how the series really ended! Well done and good luck for your future stories.

I just read Borrowed Time after thorougly enjoying Among the Living. Your style is great and you have the characters nailed! I am really looking forward to reading Getting All Chosen over the weekend. Thanks.

Came here off a rec from Sweet Ali... loved this, I can't believe I missed it. I think when I first saw the summary here at TSR I had it confused with a story I'd already seen... maybe you answered the same challenge. But you did a superior job of weaving in canon events while letting the initial differences lead us somewhere different.
I loved Buffy's reaction to Spike's soul, it was so in keeping with how she (and we) were told to view souled vampires. But Spike was right too, it wasn't like Angel and Angelus were disconnected... anymore than Spike and William were.
I'm looking forward to seeing where the sequel goes... you've certainly got a lot to work with. (Oh, and kudos for having the First thing come about in S6, as it should have.) Thanks for the lovely read.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I've written a few stories since then, but I'm still really proud of Borrowed Time. There will be at least one more sequel. I hope you'll like GAC too!

your grave yard willow quote is very beautiful -
Author's Response: Thank you!

though this was an excellent chapter - I like your treatment of the season very much - just enough hint of the series and still keeping your story within the realm of what might have happened and believable.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I wanted to keep elements of season six (after all, Joyce can't change everything) and keep the characters recognizable while taking them on a different path. Hope you'll keep reading!

Nice that you did not have a "bash-a-thon" - so many stories portray him so over-the-edge . Not that I ever liked Riley, but he was such an important part of the series and could be read in so many, and important, layers. Like your treatment of this episode, the series episode was such a dark transition for the eventual journey and rites of passage Buffy and Spike both had to take. Very good story - thanks for bringing it to us.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I was not a Riley fan, but I don't think you have to make him worse than he is. In fact, I think it's always better when Buffy's exes aren't this crazy-evil exaggerations. I'm so glad you liked it.

Loved it.
What a difference it made to Buffy with Joyce being still alive. In the series I really feel she began falling apart when Joyce died, rather than when she was brought back.
Looking forward to the sequel
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The sequel has started posting. I hope you'll like it as well.

Oh my... I really enjoyed your story and I can't wait for the sequel! Thanks!
Author's Response:
Thanks so much! The first two chapters of the sequel are up, and I'm working on the third.

Great fic really enjoyed it.
Author's Response: Thank you!

I enjoyed your story very much. Although I'm sad about Xander. Oh, well.
Author's Response: Thanks so much. Killing off Xander was hard to do, but it was what needed to happen for the story.

Wonderful! Brillant! Superb! I LOVED this. Thank you for the last chapter, I'm looking forward to the sequel :)
Author's Response: Thank you again! I'm flattered. I hope the sequel can live up to expectations :)

Oh yeah, this is much better!!! The ending of the last chapter had me wanting to pull every hair out of Buffys head and then bang it against a wall. ;)
I can see that there will still be problems (it wouldn't be Spuffy if there weren't any) but at least now I understand why she reacted the way she did, she was afraid that he would be like Angel, two totally different personalities, and she was already in love with the unsouled one.
Great story!!! I'm looking forward to the sequel very very much!!!
Author's Response: Thanks for all the feedback. I'm glad I was able to clear up what Buffy's fears are here. It's something I'll be exploring more in the sequel.

Date: 10/24/2006 - 03:42 pm Title: Epilogue
Haha, I love that last bit. Very good. I can't wait for the sequel!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm in the planning phases now.

Great chapter and great story. It was interesting to see how much Joyce's presence could have changed things for Buffy.
Author's Response: Thanks so much. I was aiming for it to be the little things. I hope it worked!

Really wonderful story. I love how you have Spike and Buffy work through their issues in this very subtle way without having to make everything too dramatic. It rings true, IMO.
I'm looking forward to a sequel whenever it does show up :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I definitely want to avoid going over-the-top, glad you think I've managed it.

Date: 10/24/2006 - 04:46 am Title: Chapter Twenty-One: Lost and Found
Very nice and real, Buffy thinks of this Spike as a stranger. She fell in love with the unsoulled version. Now all he has to do is convince her that he's still the same person only with a conscience. Nice work.
Author's Response:
Thank you! Yes, that is exactly what I was going for. Posting a little epilogue now to makes things more clear. Thanks for reviewing!

Date: 10/23/2006 - 10:31 pm Title: Chapter Twenty-One: Lost and Found
uuuurrrgghhh......arrrrggghhhh!
Author's Response: In... a good way?

Date: 10/23/2006 - 09:33 pm Title: Chapter Twenty-One: Lost and Found
huh? why would it not be Spike if he got a soul? it doesn't make really anysense why she would say that? i hope you clear that up.
Author's Response:
Well, we know what Spike's like with a soul, but for all Buffy knows that's some stranger named William on her couch. Keep in mind that for her souled/unsouled has proven to be quite different. I'm going to try to mend things between them a bit in the epilogue.
