Author's Response: The way I see it, Spike and Dawn weren't really friends until S6; one would assume that they'd bonded over the summer. Dawn certainly had a crush on Spike in S5 (and who wouldn't :P), but I think that is easily pushed aside if she thinks he's hurt her sister. Thanks for reading!

you'd think they'ld all be a little bit more thankful. i mean, spike just saved the world!!! yes he had to bite buffy to do it but he saved the world. a little gratitiude would be nice. maybe buffy could even admitt that he was changing. loved it. great job. please post soon.

Yeah, I admit that I read something similar once...but already, just with this chapter, it's very different. And even so...like there aren't a ton of Something Blue fics out there.
I'm actually working on something that has been done at least once before. However, I think that your position of not knowing the other fics gives you an advantage. Sure, the formula's the same...that doesn't mean the results won't differ.
Anyway, all that just to say...I'm loving this. Please, Jenny, may I have some more?

Real life tends to make me late in reading but I'll continue :)
At last Buffy was looking for a reason why Spike jumped; and she figured it out too.
Then Spike is really gone when Buffy only found his duster. And already everybody talks of Spike in the past tense...

Dawn's reaction makes a lot of sense, the girl can change her opinion as fast as a heartbeat. Thank god Spike was smart enough to figure it out and not tell her. I also liked Buffy's reaction, will Giles tell her that Spike bested Glory, and that he killed Ben?

Author's Response: She really can, can't she? Mystic key or not, at the end of the day she's still a fourteen year old girl. I'm not sure whether Giles will tell her that he killed Ben; he didn't seem to do it in canon, did he? Granted, she was dead, but still. I'm not so sure it's something he would do; he protects his slayer until the end. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Super update, I'm so glad Buffy worked it out. Can't believe Dawn would doubt Spike, I hope she feels thoroughly ashamed of herself.
Author's Response: I think that given the situation, Dawn's reaction was valid. Spike made it easier on her, I think, by not telling her why he did what he did; if he had, I think she would have put the blame on her own shoulders, and S5 Spike doesn't strike me as the type that would do that. What a heart-wrenching chapter. I can't believe Dawnie's reaction- that made more tears in my eyes than Buffy's reaction! I always find it to be so sad when Dawn falls out of love with Spike- he is/was her best friend after all. But this is still beautiful, and I'm hoping that there will be some wonderful magic spell to bring Spike back from the dead. I wonder if the Scoobies will be compliant though. Here's hoping!

I love this- even if it's not as unique as you'd hoped, the beautiful writing style more than makes up for it. This has such a wistful feeling about it, I'm pretty sure that Buffy finding out about Spike's death is going to make me cry.

can't believe dawn would assume that spike just wanted to get a taste of buffy before he died. i would have assumed she would be a little more...er.....understanding or something and buffy not figuring it out (or giles for that matter) was so....i don't know.lol. if spike were watching them he'd be pobably laughing his ass off about how slow they all are.

Ah, Spike survived, being a vampire. I'm glad the Buffy opened up a bit to him. ~ And then everything changed. Now I wonder if the first part was only Buffy's imagination.
