This is the first story I have read that uses Whedon's Season 8 comic as its source and ironicly, I just recieved my comic today, otherwise I would be oblivious to the references such as the thricewise demon. Thank you for enhancing my enjoyment of both stories, and I look forward to reading many more by you.

Your story was great, I have a season 8 story in my head, but you beat me to it. Mine will be different, but I think yours is better. Great job. I don't think the comic will be as happy for Spike and Buffy, but we can hope.

i'm confused at the end where he's talking about the bastard would do something. what did he mean by that?

Author's Response: Sorry that was confusing for you. The inspiration for this story came from my reading the new Buffy Season 8 comic, which mentions Dawn's involvement with a thricewise. I don't want to give away any of the comic spoilers here for those who haven't read it yet, but you may want to check the comic out yourself (it's amazing!) or google to see if you can find a copy of it online. But the "bastard" has something to do with a guy Dawn knew...and if you think of Spike's protective nature of Dawn, that might flesh it out a bit for you. Hope that helps!

Loved the way you brought Spike into it again.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! You should really check out the comics, though, the character voices are spot on. It's just like the TV show, except it's monthly, not weekly. Same ol' Joss spinning his web.

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you like my little story! As for the variant cover, I actually live near Houston, TX and bought both covers of the comic the day they came out. If whedonesque.com is correct, the comics have been selling really well, which might account for you not being able to find the variant cover. Keep your eyes out for a reprint!

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I really can't take all the credit for the Immortal explanation, as some of that was explained by Joss in the first season 8 comic (and some things, like the thricewise, were mentioned in the comic as well, in case you didn't get the references). I just added my own interpretation of it. We'll see how the response goes to this fic before I submit another fic. *looks away embarrassed by lack of confidence*
