I like that there's not a boat load of antagonism between Spike and Buffy, it's making the bodyguard role more believable. I like the way you slipped the vampirism in quietly.
This exchange made me laugh out loud: “I saw him in a towel.”
“Shut up. You lucky bitch! Were you spying?” Cordelia calling Buffy a lucky bitch was hysterical.

That is some of the best Spike inner monologue that I've ever read. I know this is an AU, but it really makes me feel like this is how canon Spike thought of his Buffy, both chip & post-chip. Really makes you see the man and how deeply he loves and needs his girl. Really loved this.

God, if Faith wasn't dead I'd kill her all over again! I'm glad that Buffy talked about it with Spike instead of foolishly believing what the other Slayer told her, and I can't begin to describe how happy I am he told her he loved her.
Now if I could only lose the nagging feeling that she'll let worry get between them...
Loving every update of this story, but i more than relate to the need to clear your mind, so take your time, I'm sure we'll all be here waiting for more (after having loved the next two updates too!)

Your hiatus is okay. So is posting the next 2 chapters further apart, to make it seem less of a hiatus! That way, if you post them every other week instead of every week, your absence will be less of one.

Author's Response: Wesley was sort of echoing Buffy to irritate her, but he was also referring to the fact that Spike killed Smith for her, which is another thing Wesley kept from her (though Spike did threaten him over it.) As for how Buffy will react to Spike's declaration, that's coming up! Oh no, the last chapter I post before my break will definitely be a good stopping place, tying up one story arc. I'm not that evil, LOL. Thanks for reviewing!

I've loved these tender moments between Buffy and Spike in the last two chapters. They seem like a nice bit of peace before the crap hits the fan and they go back to taking down Angelus.
The scene where Spike torches Darla? Awesome! I really enjoyed the portrayal of Darla, and her desperation as she realizes exactly what's going to happen.
