I really enjoyed this fic, having Buffy choosing to join him rather than lose him for once was a nice change. She wasn't Buffy the Slayer so I had no problems with the characterisation. Great story.

I loved this; I think the tale is beautifully told. I have to say, as a hater of sad endings, I actually can see that a sad ending would have been artistically beautiful ... Spike's fears and sorrow at turning Buffy seemed like foreshadowing to me; so much so, I think I had more trouble than Spike at believing that Vamp!Buffy turned out to be sufficiently Buffy in the end.

I don't love the decision to turn her, though I do inderstand your reasons, and that was where the story was headed the whole time.

Spike's and Buffy's reasons for the decision to turn her were less believable. Human!Buffy despaired of Spike's status and actions at the top of the food chain, but for some reason had no moral qualms about introducing another predator to the human race. I guess she figured once she was turned, she wouldn't have a conscience so all's well that end's well for her, but how, as a concerned human, could she stomach that result? And Spike was so concerned she'd be so changed she wouldn't be Buffy anymore but threw caution to the wind and decided "hell with it?" His actions were better explained, since he seemd to acknowledge his hypocrisy, knowing he'd turn her in the end despite his protests to Buffy.

I wonder if the plot turn needed more development to bring the reader to the place where that was really the only reasonable option.

All in all, I really did enjoy this. I was sucked in right away. Loved the dialogue, it fairly sparkles. Love Anya, glad you included her. Would love to have some info on how the story resolved for her.
