Okay, can anyone explain what it is with the grapes?

Author's Response: Grapes are an English tradition like it's very American to bring flowers to the sick in the hospital. Grapes make more sense because they have a health benefit. Where giving flowers that slowly die in front of someone who is trying not to wilt and get better, doesn't. I'm American by the way. I detest getting flowers for any occasion. They say the opposite of what they are intended, to me. :)

This was a trmeandous chapter. If I hadn't read anything else and this alone would have been enough to get me hooked on this story. Great job!
