I read the the first time around and enjoyed it - Merrick should appear in many more fics! The editing, however, has turned this from an interesting, if flawed, story, to one that is really, really good. It hangs together a lot tighter, there's less leaping backwards and forwards, and each scene and chapter comes to a defiinite close. I'm really glad you've done this, as 'Replacement' is rapidly climbing my personal favourites list!
By the way, will you be posting the fully edited version on the other sites you originally posted to?

Wouldn't have hurt the Council to agree to have the prophecy faxed - they really don't trust Giles.
Too bad that the others (especially Xander and Willow too) don't believe Lorne. It could have helped him to prevent to take the wrong turn on their way in case nobody is there to warn them.

I liked it when I read it before and I will reread it. I read chapter 5 on EF before, I just wonder will you post the story on both sites or will you post more often on one of them? I usually start with my reading on EF and whats not on it I read here.
Author's Response: I'll post on both. Two times a week here and once a week at EF until it's the same on both, and then we'll have to see. I stopped on EF because it annoyed me that I can't paste or copy in Firefox and Explorer closed every second time I wanted to post on EF.
