Sooo glad for an update as soon as I walked in the door tonight! Wonderful detail, emotion, a little humor, and great insight into Dawn. I don't think I would want to change a thing you wrote here (except for some tense changes that read as obvious typos), but the story is unfolding beautifully. As much as I want to race to the next part and the next, I am also hoping you'll let things play out slow enough, with enough bumps and hurdles in the road, as possible without damaging the story itself. You've built it up so well so far, a sudden fluffy ending would make me cry! So, all for the long hard haul here. But of course you'll do what you want. Thanks again for the wonderful story.
Author's Response: lol I went back and looked at the latest chap and yeah there are some truly pathetic typos. I'm too impatient--I can't edit my own stuff cuz I get bored, and I don't use a beta cuz then it would take too long :p Nice to know you wouldn't change anything, that means I'm doing it right. Things are going to play out slowly with lots of roadblocks and a few twists, because I don't believe in unearned happy endings =D This story has a ways to go yet. And you said thanks for the wonderful story--well, thanks for the wonderful review, cuz reviews make my day!

I don't think Buffy's a wuss at all. What Hank said to her was terrible. I'd be a mess if my dad ever said that to me or if I ever found out he thought those things. I'd be a mess too. Lovin the story and like Dawn, I love how protective Spike is of Buffy.
Author's Response: I'm glad you don't think she's a wuss =D The running away was a little un-Buffy, but then, her parents were never quite that awful on the show. I love protectiveness, I think it's sweet, so I put lots in this fic. And Dawn--I've always felt sympathy for her, being a younger sister is tough. Thanks for the review!

I'm liking everything about this story. The tension of being in high school is spot on. I love that you made Maggie and Riley Spike's parents - who wouldn't hate them? Dawn finally coming around is great, and I love that Buffy isn't totally forgiving. That scene with Hank was intense, and I'm glad Joyce slapped him for the hateful remarks. Spike hanging around, and the offhand comment about killing Hank and calling Buffy "my girl" made me melt. This is a lot of fun, but packs emotional truth about being this age. Great job so far.
Author's Response: Awww, thanks! Balancing the angst and the comedy has been kinda difficult, because from what I've experienced so far high school is so much of both, and sometimes the combination can get absurd...so I'm trying to play the absurdity for laughs while at the same time put a little of the same drama I'm making fun of into the fic, if that makes sense. And it's awesome to know that the scene with Hank is affecting people, I wrote it hoping it would hit like a ton of bricks. As for Dawn coming around, I thought it would be ridiculously simplistic for every member of Buffy's family to be a complete jerk, so Dawn's learning how to be nicer. Thanks again for all the fantastic--and specific, cuz I love specifics--praise! =D

um, yeah, stuff DOES happen in this chapter. We find out that Dawn likes Buffy and wants to be her "friend" and that Spike cares enough about Buffy that he hung around...GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!

I liked it, excited for the spike comoforting buffy falling even more love ness. i didn't hate dawn, i just kinda thought, she was a bit of a twit, at that age especially its hard to see how bad the decisions you make are. liked the chapter alot, enjoyed how you write spike, sort of indifferent to mask the quiet rage thing, update soon, take care

Well I will try and not hate Dawn, she really wasn't a fav of mine.....but I like her in a few fics that people of written her into this was a great little chapie.......shows Hank is the bastard I'd still castrate with a happy smile....Joyce, well she can hang in the pit with at least a dozen pit vipers......I think she is just mad that Hank said it first and was looking for a reason to deck her husband, LOL>
