“No, I don’t believe in vampires,” he mumbled, still caught up in the dream he was having.

that's so classic! i love/hate how u put cannon stuff in this story! i loved Giles and Jenny's interaction and their whole relationship. u did great! and Doyle! the first thing i thought was AWWWWWW! i love Doyle! i cried when he died on the show (and FYI, the actor that played him died a couple of years ago. :o( )

in this ch. i sorta do feel bad for Buffy. and kind of want to knock Spike to the floor. and maybe kick him. cuz yeah, he's drunk and upset. but it's a known fact that you always say what you mean when u're drunk. i can attest to that. the ONLY thing that redemmed him in my eyes is that he was misty at the end. i'm glad u put that in or i would've mentally cussed him out.

holding a deep breath and going to the next ch.

Author's Response: YAY - I couldn't resist, I love throwing in canon stuff, mix it up a bit and make people smile or laugh. I adored Jenny and Giles together so much in btvs that when she died I felt awful - so having them here and in love was like a bandaid for me. Ahhhh yes, Doyle. I had such a crush on him in Angel and when he died, both on the show and for real, it was terrible, I was torn up. SO I enjoy having him in my stories every now and then, keep him alive so to speak. Yup, it's time for SPike to be the ass now, however understandable some of it is, but he is still so very much in love with Buffy it's excruciating to him, makes him torture himself. All will be well though in the end, I promise. And thanks for the review sweets. Hugs you tight - one more chappy to go before things get better.

Wow, if it's possible to punch through the monitor and slap William I'd do it. What an ending for a chapter! I am quickly the clicking on the next button to see how this is going to turn out.

Author's Response: LMFAO, tempting, isn't it? The characters are definetly not without their fair share of faults and mistakes. But, that's for the sake of angst, *winks*. Hope you enjoy the next few chappies hon, I can't wait to hear your reaction. Thanks for the review. Huggles.

God, you're good. It made me cry what William told Buffy when he was drunk. People can really be so cruel in real life too.
Excellent!!

Author's Response: Awwww, i'm sorry. I hate to write things like that, but I still try to make it as emotional as possible so readers can feel for the characters. Thanks for the review darling, hugs you tight.

Drunk William sure knows how to cut to the bone, doesn't he? Buffy's anguish came off the page in waves, but so did William's. These two crazy kids really know how to push one another's buttons. It hurts to read, but it's also compelling and rings true emotionally.

Having been on vacation, I have another lovely chapter ready to read! I hope this one's a bit less emotionally devastating. I'm crossing my fingers.

Author's Response: Oh yes, he can be wuite the meany. I'm pleased that the emotions came alive for you, I always like it when a fic does that to me and of course my muse wanted readers to 'feel' what the characters feel... it makes for a better reading experience not to mention the ending all the sweeter....sighs, I can't wait to write spuffy luvin and leave the angst behind, lol. As for the next chapter, I'm just going to wait and see your reaction, giggles. THanks for the review hon. Huggles.

Keep listening to your muse. She's dead on. Even though this was almost unbearably painful to read, for personal as well as Spuffy reasons, it's appropriate in the progression of the characters with this tale. You're dead on in your characterization, as well as what it's like for Buffy to watch her William in this state of severe drunkenness. Been there. Done that. It's not fun or pretty. It is extremely painful to watch someone you love do this to themselves, especially if they're blaming you for it. Even though you know he's drunk, you can't help having that doubt of whether the booze is lowering his inhibitions enough to tell the truth or if it's just drunken defense mechanisms. May be I felt it because I can identify with her, but don't think so. Think it's just that your writing is so excellent that I could feel her heart crush when he said all those things.

P.S. I don't care much for reading the angst but, as most relationships that are worth their salt have it from time to time, I bear with it. Glad there's only a few chapters left. Prolonged angst, while good for the story, so not fun on the heart.

Author's Response: Oh cool, thank you. I guess it's always best to trust what the muse wants to write however ugly things can get. Yeah, Buffy didn't enjoy seeing Spike like that and she'll have her doubts as to if he meant some things or not but she'll stick to her guns as far as trying to talk to him when he's sober. You're right, most relationships do have some bad times if they're worth anything and to get through them can also ultimately bring the couple closer together. I loved your review sweety, you hit on so many important things, thank you so much. Hugs.

Wow! I had tears in my eyes from start to finish! Poor Buffy and Poor Spike! It's pretty even steven in who I feel for at this point. Buffy was pretty stubborn when William finally wanted to tell all and now his pain over their seperation is taking over his life and making him say and do things that he normally wouldn't. I sure hope Buffy takes Jenny's advice and even thought it's painful, she puts it out of her mind, but I have a feeling, being Buffy, she'll chew on it til she's got so many pieces she won't know how to put it all back together. At least (for now) they are in England, away from where everything happened and no past clients hanging around and Giles and Jenny are there in the Spuffy cheering section so I'm hopeful that once William sobers up a bit, he and Buffy can communicate and reach a place to build trust from!

I love when the ending of a tale all comes together, but when its such a wonderful, sexy and delightful tale like this has been for almost the whole thing... well, it's gonna be kinda hard to see it come to a close. I take heart knowing you'll do it up right and then muse will bite your butt till you write something new!

Thank you for finding time to post this weekend -- both you and Jolynn posted so I was just all a twitter with glee! But then had to wait until the denizens of the house all passed out or went to work to enjoy the tales! Hugs and smooches! Thanks for helping to make my weekend a delight!

Author's Response: Oh no, I'm sorry for making you cry sweety. I had to go there though, I mean, a little conflict, ok - a lot, to make the ending even sweeter is what the muse is after. I had to try and tip the scales back a little bit, get things a little more even before I can let these two crazy kids move forward. Some things are a bit shocking that come out of his mouth, but he'll see it eventually. It has to get worse before it can get better, unfortunate as that is. Giggles, I'm blushing all shades of red just to be mentioned alongside of Jolynn, she's my hero, I look up to her. THank you so much sweety for this truly lovely review, hugs and kisses.

Author's Response: Oh yes, Spike is being quite spiteful, he's taking some back for himself. Of course the fact he's drunk doesn't help, but the muse is trying to tip the scales back a little bit in Spike's favor. Thanks so much for the review sweety. Hugs.

OH... MY...GOD!!! I finally get the time to catch up on my spuffy-reading and what do I find: not one or two but THREE new chapters of TE... I've clearly died and gone to fiction-heaven *happy sigh*. Of course the content of the chapters isn't all roses and puppies, but the happenings are obviously necessary. I'm all for the happily spuffy ever after, but there has to be some hard times so that the end feels even sweeter ;)... I can say this, because I know you would never leave us with a bitter and cruel ending ;)
I can honestly say that I had tears in my eyes when I was reading these chapters (and that's really saying something of your writing-skills, since I'm not the overly emotional-type and can hardly remember when was the last time I cried...) My heart is really aching, and I have no idea for whitch of these morons my sympathies go the most....I guess they are at the same line, since both of them have had their stupid bullheaded blond moments one time or another *giggles*.
Can't wait for more of this. I'm really impatient in finding out if Buffy can overlook the UNBELIEVABLY hurtful things Spike said to her and if Spike will be in a different kind of mood once he is sober. Or will they just revert back to pretend-world, where everyone is just trying to protect themselves from being hurt even more... Battle of the wills, who has the guts to wear their heart in their sleeves, when it's been tramped on so many times already... I hope that Buffy will stick to it and remembers Jenny's warning about drunken Spike!
Hugs to you and big, wet kiss to your muse! :)
-Katriina-

Author's Response: Oh cool, that's great you got to read so many chapters together, I'm just sorry to have left you on such a bad note here, *ducks head in shame*. Oh no, you had tears in your eyes? I'm sorry hon, I feel bad, but I was just trying to create some balance since Buffy has had her head up her ass for some time now. It'll all work out in the end. Yes, you know me, I'd never leave things on a bad note. Buffy realizes he was drunk, she'll have some doubts, but it won't change her resolve over the issue of wanting him back. As for Spike, well, he's in a protective/self defensive mode, with or without drinking but that's because he's been truly hurt. Thanks so much for the review my friend. I hate to make anyone cry, but my muse and I are glad that the chapter reached out to move you - a compliment like that for any author is the best. Smooches to you.

Bastard ! Drunk bastard, but still :-( And he knew just where to hit because he's been hit too. As we say in french, "the best defense is attack".
Maybe you don't like writing angst, but you do a hell of a good job of it !! I can side with both characters. One of the many things I enjoy in your story is that you can feel empathy with Buffy while in the other Spuffy fics, everybody mostly sides with our beloved Spike (who wouldn't ?). But your Buffy is the best !
I also have to add I laughed out loud at the part when Jenny is listening behind Spike's door with the help of a glass ;-))
Great chapter, as always. Have a good week-end and read you soon. Smooches !

Author's Response: I like that saying, that's a good one, and true as well. Yup, he was a right wanker in this chappy. Oh wow, you're one of the few who like my Buffy here in this fic, that's great. And of course you can see both sides of it too, which is important rather than siding with one character or the other. Thank you so much for the review darling. Huggles.

BTY, great title for this chapter.......I have to say, you may not like writing angst, but hell you do a great job of it. I can say I see both sides of this story, and just because Buffy has "seen the light", Spike is in his own personal darkness. I am hoping once the fog of his drunken stupor lifts, he will realize just what he did. I know he was hurting, and a couple I'm sorry's don't always cut it. Was he harsh? you bet, he knows just what to say to cut right to her heart, and yes, she does deserve it, but in the end.......he IS love's bitch, and love does win out........great chapter. Hope you are doing well and you are all settled with your move. Thanks for the update Hugs Debbie..............PS I continue to say a prayer for your hubby, and that he stays safe.......take care

Author's Response: Oh thanks, I kinda thought the cliche for the title summed it up nicely. Oh good, that's awesome, I'm really glad you can see things from both their perspectives. They've each had their moments that have contributed to where they stand now, so the blame isn't soley on either one of them. LOL, I can say that in the end, they'll both be loves bitch, but its spuffy luvin we all want, so thats ok. Thank you so much sweety for your prayers, it can nerve wracking sometimes, I'll admit. We're pretty settled here in the new house, but of course now it's just opening a box here and there, getting new things to fill it up, etc... And I think they have a long way before they will be happy again. But I will be a good girl and will read the next chapter.

Ouchie.

I was feeling kind of smug for Spike having Buffy being the contrite one, but that was wiped away fast after the world of hurt he put on her. That was so harsh I was rubbing my own chest out of reflex and I really flinched hard at the last remark. Nothing like lashing out first to save your own heart.

I know, I was warned in the a/n, but wow, I can honestly say it really shocked me. Very well written.

Author's Response: I knew it would be hard for some to pick a side if they were going to. It was something that needed to happen though. It will test the both of them in different ways. He really laid it on thick and of course hit her right where it counts. I'm so glad you read the warning, sometimes I swear people don't based on their reviews, lol, oh well.
