Well, Angelus didn't put up much of a fight! the dustings were vividly written, as was Spike's grief. Buffy's passivity was in character for the dynamic you've outlined. Now we can get on to the budding relationship between these two evil fiends!

Spike seems to know very well what Dru is doing for him (and what not), she wasn't reciprocating Spike's devotion before. And she is reeking of Angelus? Ah those fine noses.. nothing can keep a secret if you can smell it out.
Maybe that's it: Drusilla sees him as her toy, hers to do what she wants, ignoring Spike's wishes.
Ah.. now everything is escalating. Buffy didn't expect to have to fight so soon I guess but when she attacked Angelus to protect Spike she had no other chance. But when Spike hadn't grabbed Dru and therefore distracting Angelus I'm not sure that she would have won at this point. Angelus is older and stronger even if Buffy was the slayer.
But now Spike was taking it out (loosing his sire) on Buffy because he couldn't punish Dru.
Good question what will happen now. I think it depends on which state Spike is in after the punishment.

Buffy may be part of the darkness now, but for Spike, she will be his light. She is feral, but she is reasoned and retains much of her humanity - just like him. She even recognises and accepts the punishment for her accidental act of dusting Drusilla. As he uses her body mercilessly, she is a fledgling up against a master, capitulating in both mind and body. When his anger is through, he will see that this fledging vampire has not only freed him from the uncaring bonds of Sire and Grandsire, but she has acknowledged his status and worth - even before Angel and Drusilla bit the dust.

Good to look at Buffy and Spike in this way.

Well, that certainly didn't go the way I expected it to. I figured we'd see more of them as a foursome, with Spike and Buffy chafing more and more under Angelus.

So now it's just the two of them. Hm. It'll be interesting to see how they operate within their altered family unit. I have a feeling Spike's going to be holding Buffy responsible for quite some time.

Still reading. They both have a lot of pain to work through, don't they?

That was wrong of him. Sure his sire just died, but it wasn't like Buffy killed her. Plus, he just used Buffy like Dru did to him! I hope he regrets hi actions a lot! I'm kinda hoping Buffy doesn't forgive him for it right away! Update soon please!
