STUPID GIRL! OOPS! Did I just say that? Sorry, but just have to have an indignant rant on Spike's behalf? Who can blame Spike for hating her right now? Hell, he laid out his honest emotions to her, admitted he's been pining for her all this time and what does she do? Just throws it back in his face and lies to him about her feelings to boot! THEN she has the nerve to feel sorry for herself and wallow in a sob-fest! Could someobody just slap her? Please? I mean, this is all of her making. All she has to do is just admit it & save everyone heartache. Well, maybe not Riley, but who cares about him? This is Spuffy, anyway! I know, I know. If she did that there wouldn't be a wonderful fan fic to enjoy, but you can't blame a girl for wanting her Spuffy to be happy and fluffy and amorous, right?
Okay, rant over (I think). Great chaper. Actually, probably didn't have to say that. It's pretty much a given with the empassioned rant it just inspired. Excellent writing. Maybe needs a little more betaing, but otherwise installment to your tale. Looking forward to the next chapters.

okay you got flames or Buffy hate for this. Know what I don't think I want to hate her. Here is why, 1. She spent years thinking he used her and dumped her. 2. He was her defining first relationship and it was all wrong, he was too old, she was a kid and she loved him but matured into a woman who based relationships on the love/abandon issue. 3. She has been with Riley for two years. That's a long time. If he is her 'best friend' love then he at least deserves the chance of her to figure it out and not the knee jerk dump. 4. She has known about the Mom betrayal for less than 24 hrs. and she hopped right into his bed on an emotional roller coaster. no time to process. So in her mind Spike has only been 'good/in-love' for 24 hrs Riley has been there for her for two years. LOTS to get over.
So actually it is a better story if she takes her time. In all honesty it makes her a better person. Despite how thoughtless she was would you want a person whose loyalties could flip on a dime? So good job, even if it was horribly painful.
Author's Response: I honestly didn't get as many "I hate you" comments as I had thought i would get. Yes, they are all pretty ticked off at Buffy, but they have faith that I will get things straightened out in the end. Everything you have pointed out is right on the money. Yes, Buffy has been hurt. Spike was her first love and his leaving scarred her, even though it was Joyce's manipulations that led to it. Buffy only found that out, can she really change her non trusting personality that quickly. If Buffy were the type to just throw a two year relationship out the window without a second glance, would we really like that character. Yes, Spike is hurting right now, but so is Buffy. I am so glad to hear that you follow the same lines of thinking that I do. Very comforting. Thank you so much for the review, i saved yours for last!

What the bloody hell is Buffy on? She seems to want her cake and eat it and that is not an option. She found the strength to tell Spike she doesn't want him but can't do that with Riley. Why? There is just no competition between the two, Spike is the out an out winner every time. Oh and I have to say that Willow's interference in this story is great. Loved it and really sad that it's coming to an end.
Author's Response: Hey Sam! Buffy is suffering from a severe case of head up ass syndrome and will get rectified eventually. Her logic will be explained in the next chapter when she converses with Willow after Spike leaves. Hope it clears things up a bit/ Honestly, I just really didn't want Buffy to be so flaky that she would blow off a two year engagement on a whim. Glad you are still liking it though. Why does Buffy think that leaving Riley would be too much hassle. It looks like an easy task to me. Why would you want to stay with someone that makes you warm and comfortable, when someone else sets you aflame and makes you happy? She needs to uderstand that the life choices she makes now will affect the next 50 years of her life, there is a big difference between comfortable and passion!!!! I think maybe Joyce needs to have a discussion with Buffy on "happy everafter" before she makes a huge mistake!!
