okay you got flames or Buffy hate for this. Know what I don't think I want to hate her. Here is why, 1. She spent years thinking he used her and dumped her. 2. He was her defining first relationship and it was all wrong, he was too old, she was a kid and she loved him but matured into a woman who based relationships on the love/abandon issue. 3. She has been with Riley for two years. That's a long time. If he is her 'best friend' love then he at least deserves the chance of her to figure it out and not the knee jerk dump. 4. She has known about the Mom betrayal for less than 24 hrs. and she hopped right into his bed on an emotional roller coaster. no time to process. So in her mind Spike has only been 'good/in-love' for 24 hrs Riley has been there for her for two years. LOTS to get over.

So actually it is a better story if she takes her time. In all honesty it makes her a better person. Despite how thoughtless she was would you want a person whose loyalties could flip on a dime? So good job, even if it was horribly painful.

Author's Response: I honestly didn't get as many "I hate you" comments as I had thought i would get. Yes, they are all pretty ticked off at Buffy, but they have faith that I will get things straightened out in the end. Everything you have pointed out is right on the money. Yes, Buffy has been hurt. Spike was her first love and his leaving scarred her, even though it was Joyce's manipulations that led to it. Buffy only found that out, can she really change her non trusting personality that quickly. If Buffy were the type to just throw a two year relationship out the window without a second glance, would we really like that character. Yes, Spike is hurting right now, but so is Buffy. She really doesn´t deserve this Spike. After Joyce coming clean and the night in Spike´s house, she knew exactly how much it would hurt him to really hear these words. Cruel bitch. It just proves that she doesn´t care at all. You don´t say that to the face of the one you love, not even if you´re scared, it´s too hurtful. And it´s not like he has done anything wrong, that was Joyce alone. Oh yeah, and Buffy having no faith, patience or decency or understanding for somone else´s needs or warmth or forgiveness or braveness or............

Well, wrote this long note.. and of course it didn't take the code.
First, thanks for the dedication. But this was suppose to be the makeup chapter !! Not the Spike let me use sex on Buffy to control her and not the I Love Riley chapter.. almost close to you were convenient.

I liked Riley on the show. Good American boy.. a little too preppy or jock for some... but not Angel. I even liked Angel.

But Spike was it. Until they made him Buffy's whipping boy. That's why I love fanfiction. I get to read what I want.. Spuffy. I like a Spike that is sensitive but yet a man (vampire) with a little angst to make it interesting. Course the sex and loving part is that icing on the cake. Still need good storyline.. not just PWP.

Don't know if I'll watch the game this weekend. But hubby I am sure will have it on. Good Luck. The weather should be great.

Can't stand Riley, but at least in this story I haven't made him into a complete dickhead like my others. As far as Angel, liked the character but hated his over-brooding. Got in the way a bit. Loved him with Cordy, which has led to some seriously heated discussions with my Whedon-BFF. Well, I agree with you you on the need a storyline thing, PWP just gets boring after a while. I'll probably flip back and forth to the game, my hubby has to go out of town for a week with work and its the first time since we got married that we'll be apart that long. Boo!
