Oh and about Spike hitting Faith last chapter? I thought it was perfect. No, I don't like violence and especially not men hitting women, but it was THE reaction Spike would have. He tried to evade Faith, and when he was backed into a corner and got touched in 'that' way against his will he lashed out - that's what a vicitim who don't wants to be a victim anymore would do. I like storys that are realistic and cater to the plot, rather then avoiding issues for the sake of polishing the characters halo. Your characters are very human - that's why I like your story!

Well, I like this new twist you brought up with Faith. While the last chapter was of course not really fluffy, I did not have the impression it destroyed all Spike's progress. I also like, that Buffy blurted out about the abuse - I know Spike won't like it, but I think it could be good for the story, having more interaction with Buffy's friends and family, and not Buffy and Spike living in a kind of bubble of their own. I hope there will be a talk with Joyce and maybe Spike might at one point even be able to start to trust her (always liked Joyce & Spike in the show). I would also like to see more of the Angel/Faith angle. That was a cool twist and I wonder if we'll meet him again. It could be good for Spike to protect someone else against a person who is a bad guy but not his childhood nightmare. Anyway, good stuff! Hoping for more!
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the twist, like I said in the A/N, I have a thought behind it and didn't just feel the need to add more angst to the story. You'll find out a little more about Faith and Angel, although I have yet to decide if I'm gonna include him more in this story in person. Probably not. Thank you so much for your review!

Poor Buffy, she just can't get cut a break. At least she is certain of spike's reaction and is concerned for his welfare. What he needs is her comfort. Not suprisingly he's upset by being forced upon by a bully and then bullied by Joyce (not that her reaction wouldn't be mine as well if I walked on to that situation).

I'm glad to see that Buffy didn't doubt Spike. But she let Spike's secret slip out.... when Faith was there! I hope that won't give Spike trouble. I don't think that Joyce knows (or suspects) will be bad.
Now what happened to Spike when Joyce kicked him out, mmmh?

Perfect follow-up to the last chapter! Sure things are resolved...yet...but Buffy was simply awesome! I know that a couple of people were upset that Spike hit Faith, but he is an adult recovering from extreme abuse, he felt cornered, trapped, of course instinct would come out first and thought-process later. Needless to say, you've stayed true to the characters and the story is better for it. This is one of my favorite stories and I'm happy to see new updates. I can also now understand Joyce's reaction a little more, but at the same time she did react without thinking. It was about Buffy's birthday and she didn't do a good job on putting out the fires before they happened. Stupid Faith! But excellent chapter, can't wait for the next one.

YAY IM SO GLAD THAT SHE DEFENDED SPIKE!! i LOVE this story and am so happy that u updated. i cant believe wat a mess the night turned out to be and i hope that buffy can catch up to spike before something happens. also i hope that wen buffy explains everything that joyce will understand that spikes not a bad guy.
