I love that Spike is so competent in this universe - setting up camp and scoping out the surroundings while the rest of the gang ignore his advice. They're going to come to depend on him more and more, aren't they?

This Buffy is so filled with anger and bile it's difficult to read. Spike's really the only one strong enough for her to lash out at, but it's no wonder she's shocking her friends. Spike's helping and she's barely able to control herself. His reasons for outing Riley were just, but at least he admitted he wanted to get between them, too.


Author's Response: In several of the shows after "Into The Woods" Buffy is really cruel to Spike and I felt that she was blaming him for exposing Riley. She'll have her eyes opened though. Thank you for liking this!

god, she's such a bitch. i don't see any redeeming qualities for her in this fiction, especially not with everyone else around. spike should just kill her and get it over with.

Author's Response: That was the way she was through most of Season 5 and I hated it. She's going to go through a learning process. And you know Spike - even when she's cutting him to pieces, he can't make himself hurt her.

This is an excellent premise and you're handling it very well. Spike trying to do the right thing and just being smacked down by the gang set the tone for his antagonistic relationship with them in this alternate universe. There's no love lost, and now that he's chipless he can defend himself properly.

I love that Spike immediately put everyone in their place for the months of abuse he's endured. Spike just grabbing Buffy and planting that kiss ramped up the tension beautifully. Her seconds late reaction was in character, but I bet that kiss is going to start a slow burn.

I'm looking forward to more of this already entertaining piece.

I love love love the premise of this story, and your Spike POV is spot on as usual. I think the think I like about it most so far though, is how you've given us a Spike that has totally gotten his rocks back. I just loved how he confronted her about what happened in Fool For Love, and then just kissed her face off in front of all of her friends. I love a swaggery, balls to the wall Spike, and it looks like this fic is going to have plenty of him!
