An excellent story. And finally! Recognition and acceptance and apology from the Scoobies. And Buffy, that girl at her loving best, with neither depression or delusion mucking up the works. Great to see the early seasons Spike, but without the malice. All the heat, none of the malice. Buffy: on guard but wanting him so much.

Great ending - I had a feeling it was a sort of Jekyll and Hyde thing, but I wasn't sure right up until it said so. I'm so relieved that you amalgamated them in the end into the wonderful entity that is Spike – the other way would have been just too exhausting. I also liked the slightly underplayed claiming; some authors make it so violent that it doesn't seem right somehow.

All in all, a wonderful tale - more please as soon as you're ready. Gill

There is another story there, but it would be Angel's story and I don't really find him interesting. :) William and the demon had to merge - they couldn't keep on switching back and forth like that - and Spike, that unique meld, is really who he is. I've always thought a claiming - this total commitment one to the other - would be tender not violent. I'm so glad you liked it! Already working on the next one. :)

OMG what a great story! Really different plot line. I loved the Jekyll & Hyde story. And finally Spike chose what he wanted and got Buffy and all his memories. Finally TPTB did something right. :) Go away Angel! LOL. Why couldn't you be writing S8? Then it wouldn't suck.

I agree with you..Spike knows all the things he did were wrong, he's not gonna do them again,he can't change the past. Why brood all the time and be miserable? That's annoying and that's why Angel bugs me (well that and the fact that he's a know it all with a God complex)

As usual loved that they claimed each other, so hot.

Author's Response: Oh, thank you! This story was a lot more plotty than usual and, with all the loose ends that had to be tied up, I was worried that the last chapter might be dull. I'm so glad you liked it!

Best of your fic, yet, and that's saying something. A better rounded set of the usual Scooby suspects, less polarized. A real mystery of sorts to solve. A Buffy who still has to fight against her black & white view of things, and whose initial refusal to do so in a very real way prevented Spike from reforming: she was keeping him split apart. Good writing, too, but that's usual. Thanks very much for this!
