Great story with a new take on an old aphorism. I thought it was, "Idle hands are the devil's workshop." Quote passed down courtesy of my Grandma Hamersmith.

Author's Response: Actually, the prompt was "Idle hands are the devil's joy". No idea how it came up, but that's what it was. We're allowed to bend a little, though as long as it utilizes the sense of the prompt. Thanks for reading. I'm glad you liked it.

Spike is still watching Buffy's back. Even if they were disagreeing he still did. Tells a lot about him, huh?

~ ...When the chip didn't fire, he threw his head back and roared. "I'm back!"
*ggg* Spike is really happy now.
And that's how Spike's got his new job working as a slayer now. *g*

"What's scary about needing a little violence in your life? Think our names say it all, don't they?"
"Buffy? Spike?"
"Slayer. Vampire."

Love their sadness over their inability to knock each other senseless. And the endless debate of how much violence is appropriate for a vampire and a slayer. And the latter discovery about how the chip makes Spike pretty much like the slayer. Just love the way they interact.
