I know women were second class citizens back then and the king was supposed to have anything he wanted, but does Elizabeth have no choice in the matter of becoming the King's mistress? I've heard Ann Bolyn flat out refused him until he got an annullment so he could marry her instead.
Author's Response: This is true...all your points. The King will not force Elizabeth to be his mistress. It was just that most of the time, what he wanted, he got. This is why William assumed that he would get her to be his mistress. Anne Boyln was a more of a rarity than a given.

Within mere moments, Lady Elizabeth had taken his once firm beliefs and scattered them to the winds. This tiny, but fierce creature with a sharp tongue and wit, stirred his loins and mind completely. Never before, had these two halves of his being, intertwined. *nods* Elizabeth is one of a kind. Not sure how the kind would have taken a rejection....
Good that Elizabeth won't change her ways when it comes to William, he enjoyed her the way she was a lot. Must be refreshing for him.
And look there, they can get along. :)

Great chapter, but I didn't think that Buffy would be able to 'forget' what Spike had done in the previous chapter. However, great story so far. I love the dialogue between our two main protagonists, you write historical Spuffy really well!

Contrition from William was unexpected in this chapter--I didn't think it would come this early. Don't think that William will be able to resist Elizabeth despite the treasonous consequences for disobeying his king. Love the historical!snark and verbal jousts in this chapter. Can't wait for the carriage ride to court--lots of possibilities in confined spaces.
Author's Response: But remember the contrition is mainly based on his loyality to the King not Elizabeth. If the King was not present in this equation, William would of persued her all the same. He still wants her, just quelling his desires for his love to the King.

An olive branch that twines the two together in a newfound understanding of each other. Now that William acknowledges that Elizabeth is more than just a plaything fit for domestic servitude, things may get more interesting. Elizabeth will need his guidance once she enters the realm of the King's Court . I wonder if she has any inkling as to what is expected of her to please the King. Hope that what lays ahead will bring William and Elizabeth closer together. Look forward to more.

Ooh some progress has been made! They're sexy when they're verbally sparing. There is so much heat between them and we haven't even reached the good parts yet! I do really love the glimpses into the male mind of Spike, it was a great way of giving us more info on not only his inner workings but why somebody like Buffy would be so intriguing. Can't wait for more UST!

Nicely done. I am glad that you had William behave as a gentleman and not a rake. I am sure this behavior will go a long way in developing their relationship. I sure it won't be smooth but this shows how they can be together.
