Wow! What a densely packed chapter. I don't even know where to start. I guess I'll begin at the end. It was so sweet and so heartbreaking at the same time. Poor Buffy, Maggie is such a monster. Ugh! She got off way too easily on the show. I think you're doing an excellent job of staying true to her character, her evil sadistic character. I hope Riley helps out, I still think he's a good guy.

Oh Angel, it was heartbreaking but it made sense. That is totally something Giles would do. Angel may have had his soul, but he sure did need a better compass to point him in the right direction. Guess he'll never get the chance now.

With all his faults, Giles is still one of my favorite characters, and I love the papa bear part of him. I checked the reader reactions about Giles & Davina, and I'm not too sure about them as a couple. I like the idea that love & friendship can be non-sexual, that you can make a true connection with someone without having to sleep with them. Plus she is a wee bit young.

I love the character of Davina. It breaks my heart that she's an emotional wreck & Xander is fooling around with Willow. Another Ugh! I could also TOTALLY see that happening and it is believable. I'm torn. I really wanted to see Xander and Davina back together, I had hope, but now I'm not to sure. It couldn't happen with Willow around. I'm glad I'm not the one making the decision! I'll just have faith in your story-telling ability. :-)

Author's Response: I was worried people would be upset about Angel, glad it made sense. I\'m not sure what I\'m going to do with Dav and Giles, yet. She and Xander really can\'t come back from him sleeping with Willow while she\'s still around. Dav would never ask him to stop hanging out with his best friend. Unless, say, Willow were to switch sexual orientations. Which would just be silly, right?

He's awake! Love the picture of him walking naked into the kitchen. Can't wait to find out how that special mixture he received affects him in other ways. The scenes between him and Buffy were so sweet. You were so effectively able to show the connection they have now because of what they went through.

Love Eddie! He was hilarious and added some nice brevity throughout the chapter, especially since he knows more than he probably wants to know. The quadrangle that is Giles, Dav, Xander, and Willow is sure messy. I leave that up to you to sort out. ;-)

Wonder what happened to the initiative and primarily Maggie. would like to think she's permanently gone, but I'm sure it's not that easy.

Every chapter you leave me wanting the next one so waiting game is on again.

I am oh confused. Xander did such a stupid assholey boy thing and ruined the best thing in his life and I don't think he and Willow will ever have that LOVE love. It feels like that "What if" scenario where the situation made it just right for them to go down that crazy road. And Xander was really sweet to Buffy in this chapter, the awesome big brother role he was meant to fill. I guess I'm still in love with the idea of him being in love & with somebody outside the group, but he fucked that up right & proper didn't he. I'm probably the only one out there who still likes Xander and roots for him to be the great guy.

And I love Dave and I totally love Giles, he is definitely a hot older man, I just don't know if I love Giles and Dav together. Or at least together in this way. It just seemed like she was taking solace in Giles and he was grabbing love & passion while he could because life is too short. He put Giles away and took out bad boy Ripper. It all seems to be such a tangled mess. I don't know if I'm making any sort of mess.

I guess the statement that comes to mind is: What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.

And the little sunshine in the story was Buffy singing to Spike "You are my sunshine". So so sweet. I can picture her singing it to him so clearly.

Author's Response: Thanks for the long, detailed comment. I\'m so glad you\'re into this story so much. Just so you know, I think Xander is a good guy. I root for him to do the right thing, too. I wrote it this way because I wanted to really explore the characters around Spike and Buffy. One of Xander\'s character traits is that inability to really pick a girl. Plus he\'s so young here. Dav wasn\'t really looking to get married after her engagement fell through, but he saw himself spending his life with her and freaked.

Okay, so maybe I went a wee bit overboard on harshing on the Scoobie Gang, but you have to understand, you're pulling my heart strings here! That was like 2 days of torture! You made me care to much. Needless to say muy excellente story and I'm loving every second (even if you make me cringe).

Sorry if my passionate response came off harsh. I do really love this story and think you're a talented writer. You got me totally invested in these characters! So I was really reacting to the situation itself in the story and NOT the storytelling itself which is great. Usually when I comment, I like to discuss the character reactions in the story like they're real. So sorry I'll refrain from commenting again.

What I meant was that Joyce is the parent, she is meant to be the responsible one and protect her daughter, it didn't meant she had to go to the police but she should have talked to Riley and his father. Teenagers aren't just grown kids, they are human beings who need to be taught to be responsible for their actions, learn to be good adults. Letting dangerous indicators go by without action can be harmful.

Author's Response: I value all comments, and I don\'t mind at all discussing the characters. Please never feel like you can\'t give me your opinion. & thank you for the compliments :) And you\'re not wrong, but it isn\'t like Buffy is completely defenseless here. She and Riley are both 17, almost adults, and their relationship was their business. Joyce knows what happened and as long as Buffy isn\'t in danger of it happening again, I feel like bringing it up with Riley\'s father (or just Riley) would be a waste of time. Buffy was out of the relationship immediately and I feel that if Joyce sees her daughter making a smart choice, she shouldn\'t have to take matters into her own hands.

I am just catching up to this story and it made me so mad! It is such bull shit that people are not themselves when they're drunk. Drunk lowers peoples inhibitions NOT give them different personality traits. Somebody who loves to laugh and giggle, laugh's even harder. Somebody who is depressed will start crying. And somebody who is hiding violent tendencies will lash out. Violence against a woman is NEVER acceptable, ever. If she was my daughter, I would have gone straight to the police and his parents the 1st time, what the hell is wrong with Joyce! Sorry if I'm a little bit too passionate. I was really enjoying this story until this point.

Author's Response: Life lessons are learned through fictional stories and I\'m not saying that violence against women is EVER acceptable, but fictional characters don\'t always behave correctly just as real people sometimes make mistakes in judgement. And sometimes when confronted with an issue PERSONALLY, we might make decisions that aren\'t considered acceptable to the outside world. I understand your opinion and I value it, but under the circumstances, I don\'t see a POINT for Joyce to press charges against Riley. The only thing that would do is bring unnecessary (and an awkward amount of )attention to her daughter and start a ripple effect of drama in the town. Besides, Riley isn\'t like a psychopath, he is simply a teenager who drinks too much and has anger issues. And as a character, he could be dealing with things in his life and he\'s coping badly. Again, I am not condoning it, and Joyce didn\'t either. BUFFY was the one who convinced Joyce not to press charges the first time, and Buffy broke up with Riley the instant he laid a hand on her.

How funny, for some reason my comment for chapter 4 showed up under "Anonymous". Anywhoo, another great chapter. Spike is pure delicious torture and now it's his turn to be tortured by Buffy! Bathroom/bedroom scene was great. And I love Buffy's panic mode when Spike confirmed that they were a couple. I would have freaked too! Mom disappointment is mighty. And finally, darn Willow for interrupting! Hopefully next chapter?

Author's Response: Aww...Spike is not completely nuts. He is 26 years old and works as a mechanic, a nineteen year old college girl is a risky choice. There are both practical issues and a lot of insecurities at play there. I don\'t know what country you are from but in the U.S. a lot of bars don\'t allow underage folks to even come in. For a guy like Spike, who is used to hanging out and playing pool most nights, a girl that can\'t even come in... Of course there are more important things and she\'ll wear him down, but his general policy of not dating girls who are much younger is a solid one. He\'s trying to be a good guy. He doesn\'t know he is in a porny romance story yet. ;) Thank You!!
