Awww. So bittersweet. Poor Buffy. She has such a heavy weight on her shoulders, so many ghosts, and she feels she can't (or doesn't deserve to ) share the burden. Wonderful fusion of canon with AU. I loved the lines you chose and how you placed them in this chapter. Everything flowed so smoothly. The UST just keeps rising, and rising, along with the angst. Wonderful chapter Ashlee! I can't wait to see if Buffy regrets this and tries to distance herself from Spike.

I think you have managed to protray Spike and Buffy's characters brilliantly keeping their individual traits that they have in the show... while a the same time making it AU! I like the way you worked that scene. All her confusion. All her indecision. Then her passion and then the crying. Very realistic. Very good. And you didn't overdo it. And thank you for making Spike NOT be an idiot about it. His character was always very intuitive - especially about Buffy. It really shouldn't take him too long to puzzle some of this stuff together.

Great chapter. I'm glad you didn't make Spike too much of a jerk. Buffy obviously wasn't crazy about the idea of having to face her one-night mistake over and over. I'm glad he doesn't seem to be too hard on her.

Wowie, wow, wow! Wonderful, surprising moment in the bathroom. His remembrance of her from the strip club just amped the UST up by about a gazillion notches. I loved the scene between Buffy and Spike in the store. Kinda surprised that she chose that moment to kiss him, but not complaining. I don't blame her for not wanting to tell Spike her past. She doesn't know him all that well yet, and who knows how he'd feel about her checkered past. Great Buffy characterization and inner voice this chapter. I just love how you write Buffy trying to survive. I can't wait to see if Spike tries to get the truth from Buffy again. Wonderful update Ashlee!
