Cute interaction between Spike and Buffy. Her parents are really bothering me, though, especially Joyce afraid to help Buffy because of Hank! I can't wait for Buffy to steal Dru's boyfriend and hopefully they'll all find out who's really to blame for leaving Dawn alone that night. Great update!

Ooooh me like. It's gritty and textured in some places (e.g. Spike's little 'test' of Buffy's prowess in this chapter) with Dru providing the fantastic melodrama that she always brings to a scene in others. There's the sentimentality of Hank and Joyce together again (nice!) with Joyce starting to show that mama-bear kind of determination (laced with a little naivety) that made us love her character on BtVS even when we wanted to slap her upside the head! Spike is a real gem here, such acute insight into Buffy's painful existence in her own home, though I wonder what dark and dirty secrets he's hiding (Dru alluded to them earlier and my imagination is running rife with the possibilities). Oh and don't tell me...is the murderer Angel/us?!?! No really. Don't tell me. I'll wait for it to pan out as you update with baited breath. I'm baiting it now, lol..

Oh no.. the murderer is aiming for Buffy now as if everything wasn't bad enough for her yet. This Dru is really wretched. And it seems as if Buffy is the only one who truly sees her.

So Spike knows someone who can help, his uncle. And he is willing to help Buffy. I wonder how far he really will go - will he really leave Drusilla? Oh - the are not related by blood, the sisters. No wonder she doesn't care so much. But Spike a did a bit of real Drusilla here. The last sentence sounds as if Spike is willing to do a lot to help.

Somehow I missed this chapter before, but it works great for me as I now have another wonderful chapter to read. This story is awesome and I loved that Buffy has friends that care for her, even if her family doesn't. And of course, I adored that Spike could see through Buffy's rough exterior to know that she needs help. Off to read more. :D
