Read this all at once; very, very enjoyable. Earthy and so very characteristic of both Buffy and Spike, especially (and it makes a change in Spuffy) giving Buffy the lion's share of struggle and self-judgement. Spike, after all, remains Spike after five years, even with someone else's soul. Buffy, however, has her Slayer armour ripped from her and she becomes a helpless female, an addict and living a life so far removed from that on the other side of the portal ..... The gradual rapprochment between them is not grandiose but very credible. Looking forward to reading the rest of it.

Buffy being back to her own comfort zone is proving comforting and coflicting. Her shame in surviving her time in the demon dimension is truly "survivor's guilt". If she can overcome her feelings of letting herself, friends and mother down, then she can cope with what she had to do to stay sane and alive. The plan is now out in the open and her dimension is at risk. Thanks for the update, look forward to more.

Guess they didn't kill that little fink after all. Wonder if there's a way to send Spike his soul. If it's like in a jar, maybe they could send it to him. Course, he'd have to get the hitchhiker removed and find someone to install version 1.0, but it could work. Love the way she hides in his coat, and get into an argument with the straw Spike because she can so rightly imagine how he'd insult her. Clearly she's not quite at 100%. More to come. Update soon!

I started this story ages ago and had feared that it had been abandoned. I am so glad to find that you have picked it up again :-)
So Buffy is home but of course it couldn't be that simple. Not only does she still have Glory to deal with but drug withdrawal, the dislocation from her life, and the problem of getting Spike back without allowing any of the baddies through with him. I can't wait to find out how you work it all out!

Damn... Finally got caught up with this story. Such tragic characterization. So glad that Spike still fights for her, even if she hasn't been her most glorious. This is probably the most unusual Spuffy fic I've ever read. I can say that it is "likeable" as much as just absolutely fascinating. I feel sick for Buffy and also for Spike. Their entire life in this dimension has been beyond horrible. I don't always understand exactly where you are headed but I'm enjoying the ride! And I'm looking forward to the update, especially considering this whopper of a cliffhanger. And I'm guessing that Spike had Buffy's soul? Though maybe not. I can't wait to find out one way or the other.

I'm kinda late to the party as I haven't had much "me time" lately. This has a really wow beginning. I like that you took a lot of chances - and I think they paid off. Buffy's character is especially compelling. Your Spike voice is right on as well.

It looks to be chock full of plotty goodness - looking forward to reading more.

Does that mean that Buffy has lost her soul to get through the portal? It would explain a lot if that's true. But how does she get a soul for the trip back? And by the time Spike gets back, will he miss this new soul?
I have to say this is why I love this story. Your original vision is endlessly fascinating. I love your work.

What a great chapter in a fantastic tale. I love your characterization and the plot is fascinating to me. Even the original characters are compelling.
