OMG! Y aren't they 2gether and in bed yet? Just kidding. Like the pace. It would seem extremely forced if they just picked up where they left off, with each of them having "lived" without each other for so long. It's nice that they're getting to know each other. And, dude who reviewed this chapter before me...why are you confused? Spike is making a commitment to stay in town and see things through, regardless of whether he gets the girl. He's tired of running both to and away. That's what the last paragraph means.
