Loved the flirtyness between Buffy and Spike :D I wonder if Clem was really asleep that whole time, or if he feigned sleep so they could have a nice chat lol I also love the Buffy wrestling with her literal inner-demon, but you knew that hehe It must be difficult for her to push her demony instincts aside.
Love the direction the story is headed in (not to mention the potential Spike deflowering by vamp-cougar Buffy hehehe), and can't wait to read more!

Clem made me giggle (and go, aww!) in this chapter. But - d'oh! - did he have to show up at the cemetery when he did? lol Things were gettin' steamy :P There were lots of sweet/cool moments in this one. Clem giving Spike the money and Buffy giving him the present were especially kewl :)
I love the scenes with Buffy and Spike. They still feel wary for their own reasons, but there's such an easy rapport when they're together. Because they're meant to be, I suppose :D

Ordinarily, I'd say that any real interaction between them would probably prove to be a big letdown for them, because of their numerous fantasies and how they'd built each other up into mythic creatures in their minds. The story was so romantic and a bit tragic, but all worked out in the end - in a crazy Sunnydale/supernatural way lol It was a really cool story, I wouldn't have minded at all if it were longer :)

Wow, this chapter was packed with so much action and emotion - it was awesome!
Oh, our poor Spikey! It gets to me big-time when Spike is hurting in any way - which is very odd considering how much I put him in peril in my own fics. But then, I'm an odd person lol
I loved Buffy in this chapter, how fiercely protective, loving and determined she was toward Spike. So good! Loved it! And an extra Yay for the kicking of Riley's ass! hehe

I love the way Dawn and Joyce are being so protective of Spike! Buffy being concerned about him, and acknowledging how remarkable what he did was, made this Spike fan's heart soar :D heehee
Oh, and that last bit with Buffy talking about how Spike loves her without a soul whereas Angel didn't? Awesome! :D

Author's Response: Hey PB! As I said, Joyce dying? Not happening! End of! She\'s staying and that\'s that. I always liked the idea that maybe Spike and Joyce had a friendship off camera that we didn\'t see so yet another reason for her to be happy and healthy. Between her and Dawn, Spike\'s well protected! hehe. As for Buffy, it always bugged me that she pretty much Ignored any change or achievement by Spike until towards the end of season 7 and then only because of the soul. What a load of wank! As for Angel, the less said about him the better! NEVER liked his character and as many great writers have said before me...Spike could love Buffy without his soul, Angel couldn\'t....Spike took care of Dawn without his soul, Angel would have eaten her... Spike helped stop Acathla while Angel....well, you know, Spike just wins OK! When it comes to righting the wrongs.... You know someone should start a petition demanding a public apology to all us spuffy fans from Joss and the writers for all the s**t they gave us over the years! Wow, Xander's a total psycho asshole! We're used to him being mean to and insulting Spike, but his inner-ugliness is really starting to show now. I feel so bad for Anya :( She deserves better than a guy who considers her a consolation prize.
I very much enjoyed Spike's taunts at Xander, but I had a bad feeling about what Xander intended to do. And Spike making him madder wasn't helping! lol But that's our Spike - he said whatever he wanted to, never worrying about consequences. I'd laugh at what Spike said and then get nervous again about how Xander would react :O lol
I was so relieved when Dawn, Tara and Willow came in *phew!* lol If they hadn't come in when they did, I didn't see that scene ending well for Spike!
Loved the ending! I can't wait until Dawn plays the tape back :D That ain't gonna be good for Xander! heehee

And yes, Anya does deserve better, but you'll have to wait to find out what's gonna happen, and who's gonna find out about the tape! Heehee. I liked writing Spike taunting Xander, it was just s easy, y'know? But I also couldn't help putting in the fact that even with Xander's hate and contempt, Spike still stood up for Buffy, Joyce and Dawn, and showed that he really loved them, no matter what Xander said. At least, that was what I was hoping for! :-) Hopefully people will pick up on it.
