50-something y/o f. that fell totally head over heels for Spuffy. A late-bloomer to BtVS, the show, & the fandom; it wasn't til laid up on bedrest with a shattered foot in a cast up in the air until I fell under the spell of the series, not too long before it ended. A couple of years later I found the fandom, & rediscovered fan-fic (yep, I'm old enough to remember when Trek fic was mimeographed or when fic actually got bound & sold @ conventions. I'm a BA candidate for History education, minors in ancient history/studies & Early Colonial America, contextual (minor cross-college) in Social Studies educ'n. In college I TA'd in the English/Communications Dept, often helping writers for whom English was not their native language. I am also an LPN, or Licensed Practical Nurse, for which I seperately went to technical college. I scored the highest in my school on FL state board nursing exams! I maintain the license tho' don't work in it today due to disabilities. I'm fairly good @ technical writing but don't write fiction on my own. I'm great @ proofing tho', often doing it outta habit as I go along reading a fic. I read a LOT of fic, mostly Spuffy, with a tad of other including the occasional S-B-A, *-F, -W, or -T, occasional slash, and lately have hankerin's for post-Chosen/BtVS s8 & post-NFA/AtS ATF/AtS s6 & near future fic. I've recently been turned on to LJ (with a remake by our wonderful lovely Sotia!) but don't EVEN have the hang of it yet. As said above, I'm into history, like historical & time travel fics 'cos of it. Sometimes (less these days) I do various kinds of historical re-enactment from medieval & renn SCA to WWII (Waac combat nurse, ANC). I'm a bang up costumer, pretty near museum quality ability actually. I'm into various earth-based spiritualities and magickal systems, and can assist on those fronts for fic if wanted. I've been in a long-term relationship of 16+ years with my fiance & S.O. "Mr. F." aka "Mr. Fyreburned" aka Ed or ShakkaEd, who is a now disabled police & probation officer in FL. I'm a big-time animal-lover, keep & have raised parrots & birds from finches to large macaws & cockatoos, many conures, keets, cockatiels, & in between, plus farm & fancy fowl such as chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, quail, doves, guineas and more. I own an acre of farm property and lived there til a bit over five yrs past when our house caught fire while we were gone and burned down, most of our then pets inside, & belongings. I learned about the innate goodness of folks during that time. We're hoping to get finished w/our DWMH restoration & get moved back out to the country and away from this in-city 'hood SOON this year. I'm anxious to get back to farming life, and to raise our sheep & goats again. I know my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chaz, will adore it! Thanks for 2 more great chapters! Actually, it was good to learn something of what had happened to Angel. Though somehow I can either see imprisonment, institutionalization or suicide in the Initiative folk's futures, especially Mark & Gunn, if not Riley as well, I pretty well agree they shouldn't get to get away so lightly. All that power and Willow can't help Spike's eyes/hands? And Slayer blood won't help him like Vamp blood has helped Cam? It was lovely to see Spike struggled a bit as to how to handle an overcome Dora, settling for (you Brits!) TEA! LOL! But, sweet... and demonstrating that human and humane, nurturing streak he has, wanting to care for people. Looking forward to more, of course (at least more of this fic--- still not quite sure about some of your others, LOL (says the gal who used to devour HellRaizer and NightBreed comics yrs ago! Talk about DARK!))!!!

Author's Response: I thought you\'d like that Angel\'s soul was released. In my universe magic can\'t be used to cure ills. It\'s been mentioned in an earlier chapter and will be reitterated soon. :) It would just be too easy for magic to fix them :D I actually don\'t like tea, but it is a useful tool. Aha, Claims! I Enjoyed reading the last two chapters. Looks like Buffy is still immature, though, being "Willow-ish" and manipulative, somewhat, and still not quite grasping (or Aha, Claims! I'm posting from my cell, so I hope TSR lets me leave a review (& doesn't "eat it" when I get to the 'enter the captcha' part). I'm just loving this fic & have been reading along the whole way. If I didn't review previously, see reason above; and I'm just still learning this Galaxy S4 thing.
I kinda had thought that Buffy might've gotten TOO wrapped up in things, and very well might've lost her way. After that "Reality Check" with 'Dawn/Demon?', it was good to see Buffy back on the right path to getting her priorities straight, and back on a path fo fighting for "The Forces of Good". Something tells me EVIL will be pulling out all the stops ahead to try to get her back. And William F. Allen, F.allen one as he is (but although of beautiful countenance, is he THE F.allen One?) could and probably IS a weak spot for Buffy. Am I warm on this one? She pretty much implies in her thoughts on the plane that she is going after him for information that she believes he has. I'm concerned about her return to Concentrico. All.The. Stops.---see above.
If WAS keeping up with the kind/ type of SINS, Punishments, & HELLS (OK, blame the film "SE7EN", and the classic " Dante's Inferno", 'k?), but lost count somewhere along the way by reading it in chapters, rather than straight through.
THIS fic of your grabs you by the seat of the pants and MAKES you read it! Wanting more, gal!

And yes, I have to admit I love growly Spike pretty much no matter what, so I enjoy adding him in when I can. I'm so thrilled you enjoy the writing, and the story, and where I have taken everything. The earthquake deal will be explained, glad to know you are curious! Also, Buffy's strength will be increased simply because of the claim, and Spike did not put the Gem on partly because of lacking knowledge on the thing, as well as his mind being elsewhere at the time. ;) However, it would have been a very interesting plot point on whether the Gem would have effected the claim should it have been worn during the mating. Thank you again for the review! I have more of this story to come before an epilogue is delivered. *hugs!*

Still lovin' it, maybe 'cos you've written something unique & quite yet it kinda straddled the fence, at least at first on whether it would be an AH, AU, Fantasy, Supernatural/Paranormal, or just what kind of story; OR maybe it's just because regardless of type of story/BtVS story, you've written it well.
And did I mention that claiming with sexy GROWLING Spike IS just sooo way hawt??? LOL!
WAS it the GEM reacting to Buffy, somehow, BTW, when the store imploded a' la phantom earthquake, or was that caused by Antonia "the badder witch wanter of the Gem", maybe seeking the the Gem in a big-time, no holds barred locator spell that would make it impossible to mistake it's location due to the destruction? (Antonia? Girl, have you been having a TRUE Blood mini-marathon at your place lately or something? )
I'd also wondered if Spike was gonna wear the Gem while he claimed Buffy, and how that might affect things, like making her stronger. But since he just pulled that lovely, yummy, impatient 'Cave Spike' on Buffy, leaving it downstairs with the boys, we can't know (is pouting...).
Hope you've got a little bit more o' this one tucked away to post still; it has grown on me.

Hiya-- I was just checking back to see if this had been updated yet... Any chance of an update any time soon? I do hope you're going to continue ahead on this--- sometime's Xander's sweet, but then ya think about the Hyena thing & what all it entailed, and definitely his anti-anything-Spike 'tude, especially if it involved Buffy AND Spike in the same county, even, so there are just sometimes ya just wanna see Xander get his ASS handed to him by somebody.

Summary: Written for a friend who needed cheering up, this is a sequel to "Double Bubble Toil and....." Spike and Buffy are struggling to figure out where they stand with each other after the non-canon events of Double Bubble, Willow is worrying Giles with her lack of understanding about how dangerous her actions were before he drained her magic, and Riley has had less interaction with Buffy and therefore is more willing to believe she may be a demon of some sort.
