After reading the first chapter here I went and read the next two on LJ, but I am glad it is all here now.
...so exciting. I am really enjoying where this story seems to be going.
If I were to hazard a guess I think that maybe, right after Spike burned up in the Hellmouth he was transported to his "home" with no memories but all the physical damage from the burning.
I wonder if this vamp really is Spike and the burns are just so bad that Buffy can't recognize him - ouch - I'm glad she didn't stake him

hindsight is 20/20. Buffy admitting that she is already treating Bob better than the vamp who deserved it shows that she truly has grown.
I'm enjoying the banter between them, it sounds just like Spike and Buffy.

Hooray for Illyria. It feels weird to picture her as some ugly demon with tentacles, I always thought she was beautiful (must be because Amy Acker is beautiful).

Summary: Set immediately following Willow's Will be Done spell during Something Blue (season four) and going AU from there. Free will has been returned, everyone's feeling's should be their own and yet Spike is left feeling the pain of a broken engagement.
