Very emotional chapter. Wide range of emotions as well. We have the teasing and joyful lilt as they played "tag" in the house. Then we have the gut wrenching feelings of betrayal and loss at the end. Look forward to the next chapter.

Lovin' the chappie. Spike's still pushing her at every chance he can get and Buffy is still just so confused. Yet there's so much more. It seems that Spike's giving her something that she never really had growing up. Friendship. With him she can do the things she had never been permitted to do before. With the cake, tatoo, videos, wrestling games, Buffy can be a kid. Spike also challenges her, even at times pushing her a little too far. Though I think Buffy is innocent, she isn't stupid. She knows what Spike is but she's just scared. He's a way for her to escape, for her to forget that she's all alone. That's why she stays. I can't wait until Spike makes his real, non-biting move on an unsuspecting Buffy. I wonder how she'll react? Plz update soon.

I loved the new chapter! What Buffy did after seing the films, Buffy nestling, the hunt - and then it was sad: Buffy's watcher is gone. But then - Buffy's like a child inside: Spike asks her if she wants cake and it's okay. ... For the moment at last

great chapter, loved the invite bit. The only thing i didn't like was spike being portrayed as a puppydog for drusilla, he is a master vampire in hes on right. Even in the show you could see that spike didn't respect or fear his vampirc family, even the old days when angelus was stronger then spike did he not submit to him. love the growing relationship between buffy and spike.

Author's Response: Glad you liked most of it. As for Spike being too much of a puppy dog, I certainly understand your point. What I had hoped to portray (and maybe didn't) was that William, the poet is the puppy dog and the one who puts up with all of Drusilla's abuse, while the demon, the Master vampire, struggles against that and knows that he deserves more respect. However, I should also add I always saw Spike as submissive to Dru because of the whole Judge thing. I always saw that as being Dru's plan, and Spike just went along with it to make her happy.

I love how innocent Buffy is in this tale. She's got so much about being a slayer and knowing the evils of the world, yet she's still so protected from so much of the evil that mankind bestows upon itself everyday. I liked adding the perverted cop to help show her the shades of gray that the council takes such pains to paint entirely black and white. So is Spike gonna rent dirty movies for her? Just wondering. Love it. More Please.

Author's Response: Glad you like my portrayal of Buffy. She deffinatly is innocent in many ways. And yes, this is deffinatly about the shades of grey the Council tries to cover up.

I really enjoyed this, I like the darker Spike, I always felt the idea of vamp society was never explored properly and its good to see someone actually looking at it. I hope this has many more chapters :-D

Just read this story up to date. I love the entire plot line. Can't wait to see where else this is going. A little UST already. Also, I love the growth we get to see with Buffy. It's a nice difference to see how she could have been had she been raised by her watcher and I like the choice of Gwendolyn Post as her watcher.

Author's Response: So glad you like it, and that you like my choice in Watcher. She seemed perfect to give Buffy the austere (or hey spartan) childhood I needed.

Oh man, I'm out of chapters! Really awesome story so far though! I love how they are kind of helping each other. He is helping her to feel and have fun, while she is helping him to think more and to care. Really good! Can't wait for more!

Oh man ... Cops like that give police officers a bad name and reputation. {growls at the bad cop} Buffy is really so naive in the ways of the world. She was so sheltered that her entire existence would end if she didn't have a watcher or Spike to guide her. Look forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Buffy has deffinatly been sheltered from the human world. You know, I kind of felt bad about having a bad cop in the story. But it is a dark universe. . .

Wonderful! Spike's still making Buffy doubt her once resolute opinions on right/wrong, good/evil. He's still pushing her, challenging her to make up her own mind on certain things and not necessarily go with whatever the Council taught her. Yet, he's become protective (and not to mention possesive) of her. And the whole sex thing! She is so innocent. I wonder what will happen when they're relationship progresses. Will Spike help Buffy lose that innocence? Plz update soon.

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed this chapter. I was a little worried that maybe I was going to far. Buffy deffinatly has to learn that the Council isn't always right and to trust her own insticts. As for Spike helping Buffy lose her innocence. . . Hmm I wonder.
