I just found this story and it has left me breathless and teary eyed. Your characterizations are perfect. I love the way Buffy gets so involved in the "fairytale", and her shock at the thought the 'good man' could be Spike. Now all I can hope for is a 'happily ever after'.

It's been years since this story was published, but I just found it, I hope you don't mind a late review.
This is one of the most beautiful and heart wrenching goodbyes I've read. I love seeing Lorne be apart of something so touching. I think that he would have loved being given this task so much more than the job he agreed to do for Angel that he only did out of a sense of loyalty.
Summary: Starts season seven as Buffy collects Spike from the First's cave and then veers off from cannon. When The First took Spike, Buffy....missed him. It was a hard revelation for her. Doing something about it could be even harder.

Now that I am 8 chapters in I am completely enraptured with this story. I like how it is starting with William in the past. Most stories that involve some type of time travel or inter-dimensional plot seem to start that way and "baby step" us through it. This story leaves us almost as unaware as William himself. All I know is that Buffy must be coming from some time after Spike sacrificed himself and denied her declaration of love - if she is coming from 2004.
Overall an exciting and fascinating story. I am eagerly awaiting more.

this story has me enthralled. I love that it is from William's point of view. I think Buffy is curious about why William is still alive and his mother is dead since she believes that he was turned before his mom died. Has she maybe visited a different dimension instead of just going back in time? Regardless I love the interaction between them, and Buffy finally showing him the affection he deserves.

love it. The gradual, emotional growth that Buffy displays. If this is the girl that Spike fell in love with I can finally understand why.

thanks for the warning. I would definitely have given my co-workers something to stare at if I'd read this chapter at work. Reading it at home led me to a multitude of hot and naughty dreams.
I love the fact that this story takes place while Buffy is still relatively innocent, and all the angst of later on (ie: season 6) is not there. So very sweet.

I'm kinda sad to see this end, but thankful for the 4 months you've given us to enjoy this wonderful story. I wish the relationship between Buffy and Spike could have been this intense and sweet in the Joss version.
I laughed out loud picturing Joyce walking in on a half dressed Spike. Thank God she didn't have an axe handy.

I enjoyed the budding relationship between Buffy and William and he does seem to be a nice little reminder of Spike.
Sounds like maybe William is having a sort of slayer dream. A girl with a flowing white gown, dark hair, barefoot and singing while warning of upcoming evil. My guess is maybe Drusilla?

awe, it feels like fluffy little bunnies are trying to push William and Buffy together (they both seem a little anxious when apart). I really hope Buffy asks William to stay with her - I think some quality cuddle time would do them both some good.

I think you are off to a great start. This is the way I think we all wished Chosen had gone- with Buffy and Spike both surviving .
As another bonus I am a huge fan of claming fics (I think they are incredibly hot)
